 We stood on this mountain top overlooking Silver Mountain Ski Resort in Kellogg, Idaho. The ride up was on the longest gondola in the world and included two additional chair lifts to bring us to this magnificent view.

A short drive took us to the caverns where we climbed deeper and deeper into the earth, eventually following a tunnel out of the side of the mountain.

 We camped just outside the park next to a river, making a fire from what we could find in a brush pile. Everything had to be carefully locked in the bear box.

 After stopping in Cody at the Buffalo Bill Museum, we headed on to Big Horn National Park.

 Taking no more time to stop, I took my photographs leaning out the window. Next stop, the HF Bar dude ranch, the second oldest guest ranch in America.

Climbing slowly into the Black Hills, we came around a corner and were presented with this view. It began to look like it might rain.

 We took one last look at these hills as we pressed on across half of South Dakota.

 Walking through Millenium Park on the waterfront, we enjoyed the nice weather and a view of Lake Michigan.

 From the Sears Tower we could see the city through a brief break in the clouds.
|

 We arrived at our campsite in Montana at 11:00pm and woke to at the foot of these hills. We were just outside Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park.
|
Crossing in to Wyoming, we entered Yellowstone National Park on the north side and wound our way slowly through the park to the east entrance.

 In the morning we headed east toward Cody, crossing about half of Wyoming in a day.
|
 As we left the rocky terrain of the park, we drove on to meet I-90.
|
 We spent two days at the HF Bar, situated at the foot of Bighorn National Park, earning our keep by working in the kitchen.
|
 The Badlands were by far the most impressive landscape of our trip. As we were leaving the park, a lightning storm was rolling in the distance.
|
 We crossed through Nebraska and it's endless fields in one day on our way to Kansas and Missouri.
|
 From the Field Museum of Natural History, we could see the Chicago skyline and a clippership across the water.
|
 As we passed through New York, we stopped to see Niagara Falls and take a ride on the Maiden of the Mist.
