| The Holy Sepulchre |
|
Creative Notes This photograph takes a very direct approach at presenting the Holy Sepulchre. The sides of the stucture were cropped out and it relies entirely on the ornate detail of the doorway and its surroundings. It is very busy so a symmetical and balanced approach is nessesary to make order out of chaos. The most simple part is the checkerboard pattern floor and it serves as a resting place for the eyes. Note the star points of the candle in the center. Technical Notes A tripod was used and the lens was stopped down to f/8. The image was converted to black and white in photoshop and the levels tool was used to increase the contrast. Some perspective correction was necessary to compensate for the slightly upward angle of the photograph. The star patterned light from the candle was the result of the small aperature and the six points correspond to the six blades of the diaphram.
