Pearl Box
164_6446-350.jpg

Creative Notes

I found this pearl box in a shop belonging to a friend of mine in the Old City of Jerusalem. The image was composed using the pyramid like pattern along the edge as a border. It seemed very natural to use the pattern to frame the more complex and colorful center of the box.

  • Place: Old City, Jerusalem
  • Date: Dec 5th, 2004
  • Time: 5:15 pm
  • Shutter Speed: 1/60 sec
  • Lens Aperture: f/13
  • Focal Length: 100 mm
  • ISO Speed: 100
  • Flash: ring flash

Technical Notes

The ring flash that was used with this macro lens really got into the pearl and brought out a myriad of colors and textures. It makes the pearl seem very multifaceted when even the small scratches on the surface become visible. Very little was done to correct this image.
