Plaza de Armas
dpp_0401-300.jpg

Creative Notes

This photograph was composed carefully to balance its elements, the eventual aim being to create a warm, somewhat nostalgic image. The tower and the park bench give it presence and a personal feel, but most of all, the purple flowers on the trees give it a painted look.

Technical Notes

The highlight of this photograph, the purple flowers, didn't come about by accident. I choose this place because there is a street lamp just out of view on the right hand side, as well as one obscured by the trees. By carefully placing a friend's hand between the light and the lens, I was able to eliminate the glare but still use the increadible backlighting to bring out that deep color.
